It was a beautiful way to spend a Sunday afternoon at the Downtown Art Center learning how to weave a medicine pouch. We used natural materials and fibers to create these sweet medicine pouches or small baskets. Under the guidance of our expert Kupuna and assistant we created the most treasured pouches. Although we all started with similar kits every pouch was different. My pouch was made with native Makaloa, Lauhala, jute, rope, fabric, and yarn filled with native Pohinahina and green roses. We proudly shared our one-of-a-kind creations for a group photo. Mahalo Sandy Pohl for arranging this great class and for all that you do for the arts.

A beautiful afternoon AT MAGIC ISLAND WITH BARBARA BERMANIS following the weaving class.
