A beautiful morning was celebrated at King Liholiho Elementary School on February 11, 2026. The air was filled with happy sounds of students, teachers, staff, and the Royal Hawaiian Band. fifty former retired teachers were treated to enjoyable presentations by Liholiho students. The students and staff planned for 1 year and performed presentations from true and false questions about the school, to an original song to honor a generous King, to a demonstration about how an imu in a luau was made.

The Royal Hawaiian Band under the direction of Bandmaster Clarke Bright entertained us with Star Wars, Moana, and K-Pop songs, and taught us about the band instruments. And a hula dancer under a variegated Hala Tree danced gracefully.

My mom Jeanne Yee, who taught kindergarten to 3rd grade, Aunty Shirley Yuen, who taught 4th grade, and Mr. Fred Trupiano, who taught 5th grade sat with me with joy as we enjoyed every bit of the 100 year centennial celebration at King Liholiho Elementary School. We were so proud and honored to be invited and treated to this wonderful memorable event. The Hawaiian food lunch, snacks, and refreshments were delicious. Thank you to the generous PTA. Big Mahalos to the students, teachers, and staff of King Liholiho Elementary School for an outstanding celebration. King Alexander Liholiho IV would be so proud.
