We were eager to make prints with the community at the Waipahu Hawai`i Plantation Village 2026 Year of the Fire Horse printmaking outreach event but due to the strong winds and rainy weather the printmaking event was cancelled.

The good news is that most of the event and activities were moved inside. We enjoyed the festivities by playing bingo and pin the face on the horse, talking story with the Shamisen player, having a calligraphy of our names from a master artist from Korea, buying many plants from a Manoa grower, eating delicious food, watching performers, looking at the historical photos and displays of the plantation times, meeting new and interesting people and learning about their cultures.

It was a wonderful event despite the weather. Thank you to the Plantation Village and all the happy performers and volunteers.
