ARBOR DAY AT KAPI`OLANI REGIONAL PARK - NOVEMBER 20, 2025

Scenic Hawai`i, Kapi`olani Park Preservation Society, and the City and County of Honolulu worked together to plant 3 Kukui Nut Trees in line with the historical and Exceptional Date Palm Trees and the 2 Kukui Nut Trees that were planted during Arbor Day 2024.

Cis George and Alethea Rebman introduced Arbor Day to our well attended event. Heidi Bornhorst shared information about our State Tree. The Kukui Nut Tree is a symbol of enlightenment, learning, and knowledge and it has many uses. Heidi also shared that Arbor Day in Hawai`i occurs in November because it is the start of the rainy season. Director Roxanne Adams shared the history of Kapi`olani Regional Park and kindly acknowledged, Dana Anne Yee, for creating the History of Kapi`olani Park Website. Roxanne read the proclamation from our Mayor Rick Blangiardi.

Kahu Lawrence Kidder did a wonderful blessing and shared the meaning of ALOHA and his happiness that he has been our Kahu for Arbor Day for 6 years.

The annual Arbor Day Planting was a joyous occasion that was well attended by many tree lovers. Keeping our Hawai`i Green and beautiful.
