MANOA RESIDENCE
HONOLULU, HAWAI`i
This charming yellow house is nestled in the historical neighborhood of Manoa. It is now newly graced by a landscape filled with native Hawaiian plants, tropical flowering plants, and edible plants.
Designing gardens for this quaint property was challenging to screen the neighbor’s property while creating intimate spaces to gather and enjoy the many fragrant flowering plants, fruits, and vegetables. The garden is also part of sustaining our native Hawaiian plants.
A smooth green grass lawn was designed to extend the Yoga classes that take place on the lanai.
And it was imperative that the garden was framed with tall Macarthur Palms to create an intimate space. MacArthur Palms, Tahitian Gardenias, Heliconia’s, and Laua`e Ferns accomplished this important need.
It might be a small property at 5,500 s.f. but this quaint landscape has a feeling of an oasis reminiscent of a small botanical garden. Some of the many plants now thriving at this Manoa Residence are:
Native Hawaiian Plants:
`Ohia Lehua Trees in Yellow and Orange, Hapu`u Tree Ferns, `Akia, `A`al`i
Fruit Trees:
Meyers Lemon, Lime, Calamondin, existing Coconut Palm, Pomegranate
Flowering Plants:
Gingers, Gardenia, Heliconia, Camellia, Vinca.
Edible Plants:

The Owners can now enjoy these gardens filled with beautiful plants with opportunities for years of gardening enjoyment.
